Yashica Ahuja

The Innovator

A doctorate degree holder by profession, and agriculture enthusiast by passion, Yashica has been an integral part of “Save Soil Save Water” mission.

In today’s scenario of agriculture where continuous rice-wheat pattern is observed, the health of the soil is decreasing and water table is coming down. This depletion of soil health is also accompanied by environmental pollution due to burning in fields. This has raised a question mark on traditional agricultural practices.

So the need of an hour is the sustainable agricultural approach, where soil health has to be maintained by putting reasonable amount of organic fertilizers and water has to be saved by using latest irrigation technologies like drip irrigation and automation. This, I think will be a small gesture towards mother earth who has always “given” in agriculture but nothing has been returned to earth. This will in a way increase the per capita income of farmers by reducing the cost of production and improving the productivity and efficiency of farming and agriculture. We are committed towards saving natural resources and thus saving the mother earth.

Sama Taneja

The Motivator

Sama is a SIBM graduate in Human Resource and Industrial Relations. Worked as Head - Human Resource in Danone Dairy India and Regional Manager in Danone Asia, She has an experience of over 9 years in the industry and is currently the Director of Unlimited Unnati.

“I have always been drawn to agriculture, farming and nature and I was fortunate to have spent three years in Danone leading the sustainability function for Asia. It was both exhilarating and frightening to see where our food came from. Exhilarating because most of us in cities grow up with no real connection to food and where it comes from. Traveling through countries and farms and witnessing the lives of our farmers was great. Frightening because there is so much we have taken away from our soil and water. World over soils are depleting and being rendered empty and water of course is a crisis waiting to explode. In India the crisis is even more acute. What we feed our soil is what ultimately lands up on our tables . It is urgent for us to help our farmers restore the balance in soil, use water judiciously to ensure not only that we eat safe but also that our farmers stay safe. We at VermiDrip more than anything or anyone else are committed to making the lives of our farmers better together with of course doing everything we can to save our soil and our water.”
